This is a marriage of whiskies whose vintages range from 1991 to 1992, matured in just five ex-bourbon barrels, which yielded a total of 576 bottles. This whisky showcases plenty of lively character despite its significant age, treating us to layers of sweet, heady and cereal-smoky notes.
Tasting Notes: Nose: A mixture of chewy caramel and clove sweeties, in a brown paper bag, mingle with slices of nectarine on a hot summer’s day. A few digestive biscuits are served on a porcelain plate, with aromas of liquorice and soft wood smoke in the air.
Palate: A strawberry-and-white chocolate dessert appears with a helping of barley sugars and ground star anise. Cinnamon, sprinkled on a bowl of crunchy granola, is followed up by a touch of barrel char.
Finish: Burnt honey and dried apricots linger for a pleasant while, rounded out by some ground almond.
