BLACK TOT - THE LAST CONSIGNMENT

SKU: SD21009

On 31 July 1970, a 315-year-old Royal Navy tradition ended at precisely 6 bells in the forenoon watch when the last rum ration was issued to all sailors aboard Her Majesty’s ships, a day forever remembered as Black Tot Day. For the first time in more than 40 years, the last remaining stocks of the original Royal Navy rum ration, also known as the ‘tot’, have been bottled as Black Tot Last Consignment. In its rich, complex depths swirl tales of privateers and admirals, coopers, soft-hearted mutineers and parliamentarians. It is a piece of liquid naval history with a story dating back to 1655. The rums used to make Black Tot Last Consignment were predominantly sourced from the Caribbean and aged in a solera system that was at least 50 years old. Black Tot Last Consignment celebrates the end of a long tradition of rum in the Royal Navy. Once gone, it can never be repeated!
