Mood [July] : Everyday Dram

It is always a good idea to stock up on a good everyday whisky, so that you can have a delicious drink anytime, and bring some fun to your ordinary daily life.

The Single Malts of Scotland Reserve Cask Benrinnes 12 Years is matured in four refill sherried hogsheads and one sherry butt. It has notes of leather, Manhattan cocktail, cherries and spice. Sandalwood, clove and cinnamon. On the palate, chocolate and cherry abound and take on the richness of a black forest gateau topped with almond slivers. Ginger snaps with a cup of coffee, balancing the sweetness. A beautifully intense, spicy finish that fades to cherry cola and black peppercorn.

Fettercairn 10 Years is from the Highlands and matured in bourbon casks, with dried hay, elegant citrus and hints of floral notes. It is clean with slight touches of vanilla. On the palate, spicy and full bodied, where the vanilla and citrus notes are more prominent. All flavours are very well balanced.
