DISTILLERY FOCUS: GLENLOSSIE

Glenlossie Distillery was established in 1876 in the Speyside area by John Duff, the former manager of Glendronach Distillery. After a number of transfers and mergers, it is now part of the Diageo Group. The distillery is equipped with three pairs of stills and purifiers to produce a fine and pure whisky. As most of the original spirit is used as a base for Haig's blended whiskies, the only single malt whisky bottled at the distillery is the 10 year old Flora & Fauna, which was produced in 1990, and all other whiskies are bottled by independent bottlers.

The Glenlossie 10 Years from the Single Malts of Scotland range was specially bottled for the Hong Kong Whisky Festival 2020. On the nose, ripe peaches, berries and a light hint of bubblegum, rhubarb and raspberry jam and apple pie with vanilla. Heather, hay and sugared almond. Creamy and oily. On the palate, sweet and spicy. Citrus candy, fruit cake, hints of pineapple, yellow plums, more peppery and gingery hints. Vanilla ice cream and simple malty notes in the background. At the finish, medium, more nutty, with baking spice and breakfast cereals.

On the nose, freshly milled barley, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla pods, red apples and orange peel mingle. On the palate, it has notes of rye bread, digestive biscuits, cashew buts, rooibos tea, vanilla and black pepper that linger in the finish alongside cookie dough and fresh pine. On the nose, fresh and zesty. Chocolate raisins, tropical fruits, vanilla sponge, lemon drizzle cake. On the palate, rich and creamy, vanilla custard, marzipan. At the finish, creme brûlée, pear drops, lemon fondant, light.

On the nose, tropical fruits with mangoes and peaches. Very creamy. On the palate, honeycomb, pistachio nuts and apricot yoghurt. At the finish, cayenne pepper, ginger and cookie dough.
