To celebrate World Gin Day, this month's tasting event will be a Gin Cocktail Workshop held at The Social Den in Central, a bar hosted by an award-winning bartender, on 21 June at 7pm. This is an exciting event that will not only include a tasting of two different types of gins, but also a cocktail masterclass where you can learn to make two cocktails (valued at HK$500+), making it a rare opportunity! Refreshments will also be provided.

The gins sampled at the event included Old Raj Spiced Gin 55%, bottled at Campbeltown by Cadenhead's, Scotland's oldest independent bottler. Main botanicals include juniper, pink peppercorn, orange, almond, cumin, coriander, cubebs and rowanberry. Smoked paprika is added for the spicy flavour and precious saffron is added post distillation. Another one is Soul Gin, bottled by the Belgian independent bottler Asta Morris. Maturing in ex whisky casks for a minimum seven months to more than two years, with prominently tangerine and juniper berries notes, combined with light herbal notes and cacao evident in the finish.
