Nose: You are immediately hit with earthy peat, smoky kipper and cigar ash. It’s not all about the smoke, though – vanilla, burnt caramel and ground ginger lend a softer edge.
Palate: Classic, vertical Islay. Iodine, smoked bacon, fresh- ly-sliced cured meat and sea salt. Bloody Marys with clamato juice, sweet bell pepper, celery and soy sauce. The savoury, vegetal notes slowly fade into warming spices: clove and nutmeg.
Finish: Gentler and sweeter on the finish, with orange, mango and charcoal smoke.
